10 Bad Things From the ’60s That MOSTLY Don’t Exist Anymore

Ten dangerous things from the ’60s and ’70s that you won’t find in 2025.

1. Booze and ciggies while pregnant

drinking and smoking while prgnant

It was a thing and not frowned upon. I was just watching Rosemary’s Baby and she was drinking throughout the pregnancy. No wonder the kid turned out the way it did.

2. Ironing your hair

3. No seat belts

no seat belts

Not only no seat belts, but kids could sit on bumpers or or anything they liked. Moms would put their arms across the kid like a crossing bar if they suddenly had to brake.

4. Lead in paint

A lot of brain damage from both gnawing and inhaling.

5. Exhaust from cars

6.  Drinking from hoses

A favorite past-time for kids playing outdoors.

7. Heavy pesticide use

Pesticides were everywhere. DDT was a big culprit back then, sprayed on lawns vegetables, crops, you name it.

8. Sitting in the back of the station wagon

Kids would cram into the back of the station wagon on a seat that flipped up. No space between the end of the car and the car bringing up the rear. Ouch.

9. Dangerous toys

So many: Lawn darts, BB guns, chemical kits, thermometers that allowed you to play with mercury, too many choking hazards to name. The list goes on an on.

10. Nair hair removal
